APRIL 2026

Introducing Farahnaz
Farahnaz Hasan Ali (she/her) is a Master of Counselling Psychology student at City University, beginning her practicum term in April 2026. She is open to working with adult clients (18+) navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, perinatal and postpartum distress, work-related stress, cultural and identity issues, relationships, and grief.
As a South Asian Muslim woman, Farahnaz understands the barriers that can make accessing therapy challenging and hopes to help create change within her community.
Having founded her own business focused on maternal mental health, she is passionate about supporting mothers experiencing prenatal or postnatal depression.
Farahnaz approaches her work with cultural humility, empathy, and a strengths-based lens. She is interested in drawing from Solution-Focused, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural (DBT) approaches to support clients in their healing and growth.
Why work with a student therapist?
Seeing a student therapist can be an excellent option for clients seeking focused, shorter-term, or goal-oriented support. Farahnaz’s work is closely supervised by a registered psychologist, meaning your care benefits from both her direct therapeutic attention and ongoing clinical oversight. This supervision ensures high standards of ethical, reflective, and effective practice.
Student therapy is also offered at a reduced fee, making counselling more accessible while maintaining quality of care.
Best fit for student therapy:
Working with Farahnaz may be especially well-suited for clients who are:
